Fluid stream monitor - detecting material forming ions in a liquid

A porous non-conductive wick is continuously exposed to a fluid stream such as air. The wick is wetted by a non-conductive liq. which collects any ion-forming material in the fluid stream so that the resistance detected between two points on the wick changes if such material is present. The material to be detected may be sodium oxide smoke in the vicinity of a liq. sodium cooled fast breeder nuclear reactor.
