1396761 Free-flowing detergent compositions COLGATE-PALMOLIVE CO 24 Aug 1972 [25 Aug 1971] 39441/72 Heading C5D A free-flowing built detergent composition having a bulk specific gravity of 0À5 to 0À7 comprises a mixture of (A) spray-dried beads of a blend of synthetic organic detergent and at least one auxiliary inorganic or organic alkaline builder salt, (B) granules of pentasodium tripolyphosphate hexahydrate and (C) granules of inorganic perhydrate. (C) may be sodium perborate and/or sodium percarbonate. The surfactant of component (A) may be anionic (including soap), nonionic or a mixture thereof. The builder may be pentasodium tripolyphosphate, trisodium salt of nitrilotriacetic acid or a mixture thereof; sodium silicate. At least 25% of the total tripolyphosphate is in the form of the granules (B) and these granules comprise 10 to 25% of the total composition. The perhydrate (C) comprises 10 to 30% of the total composition. The beads (A) contain 10 to 50% of synthetic organic detergent, 25 to 60% by wt. of builder and conventional additives such as enzymes, anti-redeposition agents, optical brighteners, antifoams such as C 12 to C 22 fatty acids and C 14 to C 22 alkyl amides or amines, e.g. di-hydrogenated tallow amine. A catalase inhibitor such as hydroxylamine sulphate may be present to prevent decomposition of the inorganic perhydrate. The components (A), (B) and (C) should be of the same size; less than 5% being retained on a 1À68 mm. screen, not more than 50% passing a 0À074 mm. mesh; and at least 80 of component (B) should be retained on a 0À149 mm. mesh. |
