<p>The object, especially for use in connection with automatic machines, is to prevent excessive wear of the teeth of a milling cutter working on a plastic-veneered furniture component which has a cutout or recess at the edge, which can occasion repeated delays in the production line, when the cutter enters at full recess depth. As the cutter passes along its course over the length of the recess it is raised as the depth diminishes, and at the end of the recess it is withdrawn to the full recess depth, and returned to the edge at this deep setting. It may be raised along a curved track, or along a straight track, and may be raised to half the depth of the recess. Standstill periods for the cutter are significantly reduced.</p> |
