Abrasive grain aggregate prodn., by sintering a mixt. of abrasive and metal powder in the presence of the liquid phase and comminuting the agglomerate cake obtd., takes place by sintering the powder mixt. in free flow condition. The material is used for machinery and cutting tools, e.g. grinding discs. The agglomerate cake formed has a porous structure, with predominant collection of metal at impact surfaces. Aggregates with branched surfaces are formed on breaking up, yielding solid bonding of grains in a total matrix.
