发明名称 Quench chamber in coal gasification plant - having an oxygen supply below and remote from the burner
摘要
Slagging coal gasifier is of the type in which coal is introduced into a column-like gasifying vessel and gasified by means of oxygen and steam introduced near the fuel bed through tuyeres. Molten slag and Fe is periodically discharged downwardly through a slag tap outlet in the hearth into water in a quenching chamber. The pool of molten slag and iron is kept in the hearth by directing hot combustion prods. from a burner beneath the orifice upwardly. Tapping of the molten slag and iron is initiated and controlled by stopping or reducing the burner output and reducing the pressure in the quenching chamber by controlled venting to atmosphere so as to produce a differential pressure between the quenching chamber and the gasifier vessel. The improvement is the provision of a combustion sustaining gas contg. (some of) the O2 required for combustion at the burner from a position within the chamber, above the water level, and remote from the burner. This gives a flow path of the combustion gas in the space between the slag tap and the water level to provide a gas layer intermediate the chamber walls and the prods. of combustion from the burner. Overheating is prevented and the combustion prods. are prevented from being cooled before passing to the molten slag.
