The invention relates to a procedure for the lengthwise shifting of timber. The timber is transported in a crosswise direction by one or more conveyor belts displacing them lengthwise (L1-L1) from the slanting rest of the cross conveyor belt (12) with the remaining timber being shifted away from the pieces of timber at pre-set intervals, the lengthwise conveyor belt ceases when the timber is are located in a pre-set lengthwise area with respect to a transverse conveyor (L2-L2).The device is characterised by the fact that it includes one or more rests (12) which start at or outside of a line (L1-L1) of chip pieces and extend to a cutting line (L2-L2) and that one or more rests (12), by (16), may be moved away from the timber pieces which have been shifted away from the line (L1-L2).<IMAGE> |
