<p>The rig for a sail-propelled craft, partic. a sailboard, has the usual universal-joint-mounted mast. However the sail is controlled using a sheet with a good feel running either side of the sail but outside the sail profile, secured to the mast forward. The sail clew is pulled aft to a boom (3), connected to the mast (1) lower down than the sheet whose after ends are secured to the boom near its after end. Sheet material is pref. a non-stretch rope (11') encased at least part-way in a plastic tube (11).</p> |
