The retractor mechanism to be tested is fixed on the base plate pivot in a position representing the direction of the deceleration for which the test is to be carried out. Next the cable is attached and fixed by a clamping element on a holder. Subsequently the holder and the clamping element are set in such a way that the cable takes up a position parallel to the deceleration direction of the slide. The length of travel of the slide is equal to the length of strap coiled off the retractor spool. When the holder with the clamping element are in the shifted position, the cable is fixed on the holder by the clamping element.
