The invention relates to a carburettor for internal combustion engines, especially in motor vehicles with an intake pipe, a main throttle controlling the flow through the intake pipe, a venturi tube arranged upstream of the main throttle with a fuel feed system and an automatically actuated choke valve arranged upstream of the venturi tube, which choke valve can be adjusted by a temperature-sensitive control element as a function of the temperature of the internal combustion engine, a device being provided in accordance with Patent Application P 3028629.4 which in the cold running phase fully opens the choke valve when the position of the main throttle and/or speed of the internal combustion engine is constant over a predetermined time interval and releases the choke valve again when the load and/or the speed varies. In order to prevent faults (for example bucking) in the transitional phases the device contains a solenoid or pneumatically actuated fuel pump, which feeds additional fuel into the intake pipe in the event of a variation of the load and/or the speed of the internal combustion engine.
