The invention relates to a device (28) for fastening a boundary rod (20 or 22) or similar article on a bearing part (16) having a flat surface, in particular for bounding the edges of support surfaces of shelves or similar furniture parts. It has a holding member (30) which can be mounted on the bearing part (16) and on which the boundary rod (20 or 22) is arranged so as to be pivotable in such a way that it can be adjusted from a plane which is substantially perpendicular to the support surface (18) at least into a plane which is substantially parallel thereto, as a result of which, for example, shelves of shelf units can be cleaned simply and easily without having to remove the boundary rod (20 or 22) therefrom. <IMAGE>
