In this method, a plastic foil tape is used which contains several image information tracks for the colours red, green, blue and black/white, on which the image signals are recorded in analog or digital form. Audio tracks are also accommodated adjacently on the plastic foil tape. The image signals are illuminated by line-shaped light sources and the light signals produced are recorded by line-shaped arrays of photoelectric components. The output signals of these components are supplied to an electronic evaluating circuit, at the output of which the familier red, green, blue and black/white signals of the colour television are available. The image signals are impressed or printed on the foil tape. A device is therefore described by means of which the image signals can be printed on the foil tape from an endlessly circulating process work or a lithographic printing tape in a printing machine. <IMAGE>
