A joint box (1) for directly buried electric cables, which comprises a main body (11) of metal, an anticorrosion layer (12) provided outside the main body in intimate contact therewith, and a plastic protective layer (13) formed over the anti-corrosion layer in intimate contact therewith. A cable joint comprises a pair of above joint boxes, the outer end of each of the joint boxes being soldered to the metal sheath of an electric cable and protected against corrosion by an anticorrosion layer formed over the soldered joint, the joint boxes being connected to each other by a flange joint accommodated in an anticorrosion case provided on trunk portions of the joint boxes, the remaining interior space of the anticorrosion case being filled with an anticorrosion material.
