PURPOSE:To simplify transfer of a tank in a ship hull replacing work for an LNG carrier, by a method wherein the upper wing tank of an old ship hull is removed, the tank is caused to float on the sea integrally with an upper deck and a lateral partition between adjoining tanks, and the old ship hull consisting of sides and a bottom outer plate is sunk. CONSTITUTION:The upper wing tank of an overage LNG carrier is removed, a tank 2 is taken out, and is transferred into a new ship hull for part 3 of an upper deck part and auxiliary reuse therein. In the tank 2, a central pipes 4, and a lateral partition wall 5 between adjoining tanks are temporarily joined together by means of joint metals 6 and 7. Thereafter, it is caused to float on the sea as a one-piece structure. Meanwhile, the old ship hull formed by side outer plates and a bottom part is sunk to separate the two parts from each other. The taken-out tank 2 and the like are installed in a new ship hull, being under separate construction, to complete a new LNG carrier. This enables effective utilization of an LNG tank, and also permits construction of a new LNG carrier at a low cost.
