It has been shown that, in washing drums, the unbalance occurring as a result of uneven laundry distribution in high-speed spin driers can be virtually prevented if care is taken to ensure that the transition from the washing speed to the spinning speed always takes place from a specific position of the washing drum. This is carried out by means of a limit switch (7) which is located on the drum circumference and which opens the circuit for starting protection for the spinning mode solely in the predetermined position of the inner drum. <IMAGE>
