摘要 The process for softening calcium salt- and magnesium salt-containing river and spring water using isopolyanions of silicic acid has been particularly developed with regard to environmental acceptability. The phosphates currently used for softening in most detergents are an exceedingly high pollution for our bodies of water, because they lead to an overfertilisation of the water. Aquatic plants, in particular algae, proliferate uncontrollably as a result and can cause a so-called "collapse" of the water bodies. The softening is performed by the novel process by complex formation, as with the phosphates, no precipitate/residue is thus formed which could pose problems. Since the action is initiated immediately, it is again possible, in particular, to wash without problems using soaps made of natural fats/vegetable oils, since the hitherto restrictive formation of insoluble calcium soaps is prevented. Specifically, aqueous solutions of water glass (already long known, for example, for egg preserving) can be used, since they contain large amounts of these polyanions and are easily available in relatively large quantities.
