PURPOSE:To prevent an original from shifting in position when a cover is closed and to eliminate a waste in copying by using a magnetic body for one side of an original platen glass support frame, and placing an original holding plate made of a permanent magnet sheet thereupon and pressing the original. CONSTITUTION:One side of the original platen glass support frame 6 which supports platen glass 1 is made of the magnetic body, e.g. iron. Then, the original holding plate 7 made of the permanent magnet sheet is placed thereupon. Therefore, when a copy is taken, the original 8 is placed within an effective copying range and then the holding plate 7 is placed thereupon, so that the original 8 is fixed between the holding plate 7 and glass 1 with magnetic force. Consequently, even when the original 8 is light or easy to slip, the original 8 never shifts in position owing to a flow of air generated when the cover is closed and a waste in copying due to the cutting of an image is prevented.
