PURPOSE:To improve output torque in an engine, by discriminates types of gasoline by means of knock occurring conditions in the engine, while setting a fundamental timing control characteristic in a way of being selected to the timing control side or to the lag timing control side. CONSTITUTION:A knock discriminator part 2 discriminates a knock occurring in an engine from a detection signal out of a knock sensor 1. An ignition timing select part 3 discriminates whether ignition timing is set to the lag timing control side or to the timing control side. A solenoid valve drive circuit 7 drives a solenoid valve 8 in response to each output of an operating state discriminator circuit 6 and a memory circuit 4. A distributor 9 with a built-in ignition signal generator 11 is driven synchronously with rotation of the engine. Thus, ignition timing is automatically selectable in response to types of gasoline and thereby engine output torque is improvable. |
