PURPOSE:To make it possible to keep the efficiency of the entire laser system at the best state without imparting a new heat source, by finding a point, where the intensity of divided laser light becomes the maximum value, and setting the angle of the optical axis of a nonlinear optical crystal at an angle corresponding to said found point. CONSTITUTION:Laser light from a laser device 1 is transmitted through a nonlinear optical crystal 2. The crystal 2 converts a part of a fundamental wave (a) into the second harmonic wave. A dichroic mirror 5 divides the laser light into the fundamental wave and SHG. A mirror 6 reflects and divides a part of the SHG. A power detector 7 detects the intensity of the light, and the result is inputted to a control device 8 as an electric signal. The control device 8 outputs a signal, which deflects the angle of an optical axis, to a stepping motor 4. An angle adjusting knob 3 is turned, and the maximum value of the output of the power detector 7, which is varied in correspondence with the variation of the angle, is obtained. A signal, which fixes the angle at a value corresponding to the maximum width, is outputted to the stepping motor 4 again. Thus the angle between the optical axis of the nonlinear optical crystal and the optical axis of the laser light is adjusted.
