PURPOSE:To eliminate the influence of a head moving time by disposing at least two disks in parallel and controlling these disks apparently by treating as one disk. CONSTITUTION:Two disks 11, 12 are commonly controlled by one processor (CPU)3 through their disk controllers 21, 22. Under control of a processor 3, during accessing a file on one disk 11, the processor 3, when a file to be accessed in the next place is present on the other disk 12, takes a control means for issuing a command to the disk controller 22 to move a head to an objective cylinder. Accordingly, if in the file of more than 1 cylinder. The file is stored alternately in the respective disks 11, 12 by an unit of cylinder, a moving time of the head can be apparently eliminated and an access time as a whole can be effectively shortened.
