PURPOSE:To make it possible to precisely position a sheet of paper with a cheap arrangement, by allowing an intermediate roller section to serve as a paper sheet positioning device, and by disposing one-way clutches on drive shafts for a feed roller and an intermediate roller, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A printing drum 7, a paper feed roller 3, an intermediate roller 5 and a discharge roller 9 are driven by a common motor 11. Further, the paper feed roller 3 and the intermediate roller 8 are rotated in the opposite directions by means of reversing pulleys 12, 13, respectively, and one-way clutches 3a, 5a freely rotating in the direction reverse to the drive direction are disposed between the respective shafts and the pulleys 12, 13. With this arrangement, when the motor 11 is rotated counterclockwise, the paper feed roller 3 rotates clockwise so that the uppermost sheet 1 in a cassette 2 is separated, and is fed to the intermediate roller 5 section where the sheet is temporarily stopped. Further, when the motor 11 is rotated clockwise, the sheet 1 is advanced by the intermediate roller 5.
