摘要 PURPOSE:To enhance the turnability and rectilinear stability of a vehicle, by controlling such that rear wheels are turned in the same direction as that of front wheels when the operating speed of a steering wheel is less than a predetermined speed, while the rear wheels are turned in the direction opposite to that of the rear wheels when the operating speed is greater than the predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:Linkages 4, 14 in front and rear wheel steering devices are attached with a steering amount detector 100 and a rear wheel steering angle detector 400, respectively, and detection signals therefrom are delivered to a signal processing circuit 300 together with a detection signal from a vehicle speed detector 200. The signal processing circuit 300 determines the speed of steering operation from a steering amount signal and computes a desired value signal for the rear wheel steering angle in accordance with the result of the determination and the vehicle speed signal. Further, this steering speed is compared with a reference value which is determined in accordance with the vehicle speed signal, and a control is made such that when the steering speed is less than the reference value, the rear wheels 18 are steered in the same direction as that of the front wheels 6 while when the steering speed is greater than the reference value, a steering angle is given to the rear wheels in the direction opposite to that of the front wheels.
