PURPOSE:To make constant the peripheral speed of a photosensitive drum with simple control by driving the stepping motor to drive the photosensitive drum at the through area. CONSTITUTION:An inertial load 11 sufficiently larger than the rotor inertia of a stepping motor 2 is fitted at the load of the stepping motor 2, the driving pulse of the stepping motor 2 is gradually faster and set up to the prescribed pulse rate. At such a time, the prescribed pulse rate is set so as to come to be the through area of the stepping motor 2. Namely, in the figure, the longitudinal shaft shows the motor shaft torque of the stepping motor 2 and the horizontal shaft shows the energizing changing-over timing (PPS). At the time of starting the stepping motor 2, the starting is executed in a pull-in torque curved line A of an (a) area, and the exciting changing-over timing (PPS) is gradually made faster up to the prescribed number of the rotation. At the time of the prescribed number of the rotation, the motor is driven at a (b) area.
