PURPOSE:To contrive automatic translation with excellent economy by providing speech recognition devices of the number equal to that of talkers which recognize the voice of talkers and output the result as a pivot code, a switch selecting one of outputs of the speech recognition devices and a converter converting the pivot code into a desired language. CONSTITUTION:When an Englishman at a terminal equipment 12 and a frenchman at a terminal 1n depress a pushbutton to request the utterance nearly at the same time, a priority selection circuit 3 selects a terminal equipment 2, then a terminal number '2' is sent to a bus controller 5 to connect an announcement equipment 6 with the output terminal 4a of a switch 4, the announcement equipment 6 is started to output the message of '2' in a pivot code. The pivot code is outputted to converters 71-7n, from which each language message is outputted to terminal equipments 11-1n. When the Englishman at the terminal equipment 2 starts uttering in English, it is recognized by a speech recognition device 22, the language is analyzed and outputted as the pivot code. The pivot code is sent to the converters 71-7n, where the code is translated into a prescribed language code, outputted as speech, converted into other languages such as Japanese or French and the result is outputted to the terminal equipments 11-1n.
