PURPOSE:To perform coating with a predetermined width to a wide part without irregularity, by employing a liquid applicator consisting of a container, a coating port and a lid, etc. and specifying the shape and material quality of the coating port. CONSTITUTION:A liquid applicator 11 consists of a cylindrical flexible liquid receiving container 12 having one or more through-holes 12C provided to one end surface 12A thereof, the plastic or rubber sponge like coating port 13 fixed to the end surface 12A of the container 12 and having through-holes 13A communicating with the through-holes 12C, a lid 14 engaged with the coating port 13, the liquid replenishing port 15 provided in the vicinity of the other end surface of the container 12 and the lid 16 thereof. The coating port 13 has an almost rectangular plate shape and the through-holes 13A crossing the plate surface thereof at a right angle are, for example, 5 pieces like the through-holes 12C and drilled in a row in the longitudinal direction of the rectangle. By this shape of the coating port 13, the coating to a wide part can be easily and rapidly performed and no wastefulness of a liquid such as a sizing agent is generated.
