PURPOSE:To eliminate residual elongation and rupture and to improve the temp. characteristic of an optical loss by using a fully arom. liquid crystalline cpoloymerized polyester and arom. and aliphat. copolymerized polyester in a blended state for at least either of a secondary coating layer and tensile body of an optical fiber core. CONSTITUTION:The optical core is constituted of an optical fiber 1, a cushion layer 2 consisting of a rubber or resin curable by UV rays having a low Young's modulus and the secondary coating layer 3 blended with the liquid crystalline copolymerized polyester contg. a P-oxy-benzoyl group and 6-oxy-2-naphthoyl group at 1:1 ratio and the copolymerized polyester of a PE terephthalate contg. 40-50mol% P-oxy-benzoyl group. A coefft. alpha of linear expansion and Young's modulus E can be set freely simply by blending the polyesters at varied ratios if two kinds of the above-mentioned copolymerized polyesters are prepd. The optical fiber having the excellent temp. characteristic is thus obtd.
