PURPOSE:To enhance the measuring sensitivity of a liquid level, by such a simple structure that an electric heater is provided in the heat insulating double pipe of a lower pressure take-in pipe. CONSTITUTION:When the electric heater 4 fitted to the inner surface of the lower end of the heat insulating double pipe 2 immersed in a liquid 5 is heated, the liquid raised in the double pipe is evaporated and the double pipe 2 is filled with gas up to the lower end surface 3 of the double pipe 2 positioned in the vicinity of the bottom of a container 10 to always hold the liquid level in the double pipe at the position of the end surface 3. By this constitution, the accurate position of the liquid level 6 can be measured from the pressure difference between the interior of the double pipe 2 and the gaseous layer.
