PURPOSE:To obtain the large capacity performance of the MCAV system and the ease of information management characteristic in the unit of tracks and sectors of the CAV system by combining physical tracks so that the sum of circumferences of each face of tracks of a double sided optical disk. CONSTITUTION:The physical tracks starting from the inner circumference of one side of the optical disk medium and the physical track starting from the outer circumference of the opposite side are combined sequentially. Thus, number of sectors recorded with constant line density in summing tracks of both sides corresponding to each other is always constant depending on the relation of an arithmetical series. Thus, the track access equal to a conventional constant angular velocity (CAV) system is realized while employing a constant number of revolutions of modified constant angular velocity (MCAV) system.
