METHOD FOR SOFTENING HARD WATER

PURPOSE:To obtain soft water, by a method wherein hard water is guided to an anode chamber and a cathode chamber and an alkaline substance is formed in the raw water in a cathode chamber before guiding the raw water to a carbonate compound packed bed. CONSTITUTION:Tap water is supplied to the anode chamber 4 and cathode chamber 5 of an electrolytic cell 3 as hard water from a raw water storage tank to be electrolyzed. The raw water from the cathode chamber is guided to a calcite packed tank 7 to be softened and guided to an acidic water tank 9. Further, the raw water from the anode chamber is guided to an alkaline water tank. Then, alkaline water and acidic water are mixed. By this method, soft water slightly lower that the raw water in hardness can be obtained.
