PURPOSE:To obtain light of a faint intermediate color except for elementary colors and besides to enable very clear emission of light of many desirable tints with constant brightness maintained during discharge by coating an inner wall surface of a neon tube, which is a transparent glass tube, with a phosphor paint in which a pigment is mixed. CONSTITUTION:A pigment 4 of a desirable color is mixed in a phosphor paint 2 with which an inner wall surface 3 of a neon tube 1 is coated by baking, so that the phosphor paint 2 has the color of the pigment 4. A process in which the inner wall surface 3 of the neon tube 1 is coated with the pigment 4- contained phosphor paint 2 can be easily performed by methods of inflowing, spraying, sucking, or the like. The neon tube 1 can be used as a desirable color- fitted neon tube even in the daytime by the function of the pigment 4 in the phosphor paint 2 with which the inner wall surface 3 is coated. This tube can be used as a colored advertising matter 5 in the daytime, and besides this tube can be used so as to emit the light of the pigment 4 clearly by discharging this tube in the nighttime (occasionally including the daytime).
