PURPOSE:To detect moving velocities of objects to be detected under relative movement accurately and at a high speed, by using a plurality of unit spatial filters so set that array pitches thereof are proportional to respective moving velocities of the objects with the center frequency thereof constant. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of spatial filters U1-Un are arranged corresponding to respect velocities V1-Vn relative to objects to be detected. The filters each have light receiving elements 8 divided into two groups and array pitches P1-Pn thereof are so set that spatial frequency signals with the same center frequency (f) are outputted with respect to corresponding relative velocity. Thus, for example, when the relative velocity of the objects being detected is V2, the unit filter U2 along outputs a spatial frequency signal with the frequency (f). This signal is detected with a comparator C2 through a band pass filter F. A discrimination/indexing means 10 identifies the space filter U2 outputting a spatial frequency (f) and a moving velocity V2 corresponding thereto is shown on a display device 7.
