This invention relates to a process for purifying gallium by partial solidification. This process consists in locally cooling a mass of liquid gallium so as to convert it partially into crystals which are purer than the initial liquid and then compressing the said crystals to obtain a mass which is as compact as possible, which is then separated from the residual liquid and then remelted. It applies to the manufacture of gallium of purity higher than 99.9999%, meeting the specifications of the electronics industry. <IMAGE> |
