PURPOSE:To provide optimum guidance information according to a running condition of a moving object by varying a degree of detail of a map projected onto a screen properly according to a running speed of the moving object or the type of a road -- whether a road on which the moving object is running is an express way or an ordinary road. CONSTITUTION:A speed sensor 9 is provided to detect a running speed of a moving object while a road network and display elements such as character and mark information on a map in regions per screen are sorted beforehand according to a degree of detail of the map to be stored into a map information memory medium 5 separately. Then, with a signal processor, the reading of the display elements on the map in the same region from the map information memory medium 5 is controlled according to the running speed of the moving object detected with the speed sensor 9 to vary the degree of the map in the same region as displayed on the screen. |
