PURPOSE:To obtain an electroviscous fluid capable of exhibiting stable and excellent electroviscous effect in wide temperature range by dispersing fine particles obtained by pulverizing a carbide in which bulk mesophase is arranged in state of layers into a dispersing medium containing an electrically insulating liquid. CONSTITUTION:The objective electroviscous fluid obtained by dispersing (A) carbonaceous fine particles having 0.1-100mum volume average diameter and obtained by pulverizing a carbide produced by heat-treating a carbonaceous raw material at 480-550 deg.C and having fibrous tissue structure in which bulk mesophase is arranged in one direction into (B) a dispersing medium, preferably consisting of (i) 0-99wt.% electrically insulating liquid and (ii) 1-100wt.% surfactant. |
