23443-490 Sealing compositions comprising 60 to 98 % by weight of a high molecular weight, partly crystalline copolyester or mixture of such copolyesters, 2 to 40 % by weight of an inorganic or polymeric filler and 0 to 10.% by weight of additives are disclosed The copolyesters are prepared by polycondensation of 40 to 80 mol % of terephthalic acid, 20 to 60 mol % of at least one dicarboxylic acid of the formula HOOC-R-COOH, wherein R is, for example, an aliphatic radical having 2 to 10 carbon atoms and, if appropriate, 0 to 3 mol % of trimesic acid or trimellitic anhydride with 60 to 100 mol % of at least one diol having the formula HO-R'-OH, wherein R ' is an aliphatic radical having 2 to 12 C atoms, if appropriate, 0 to 40 mol % of diols of the formula HO-R"-OH, wherein R" is, for example, a cycloaliphatic radical having 2 to 12 C atoms and, if appropriate, 0 to 3 mol % of trimethylolethane or trimethylolpropane. The compositions are particularly useful as injectable, sterilisable, pressure- and vacuum-resistant sealing compositions for closures or closable containers. They provide good sealing properties, can be injected into the closure without any after treatment, one resistant to pasteurisation and sterilization and can be disposed of in an environment-friendly manner.
