The method produces a cage-type supporting ring for a surface heater, shaping a blank without cutting to give radial (12) and axial passages. The blank is of wire, strip or plate material, a flat strip of predetermined length and width being first produced from it. This is then shaped into a channel-section (6), with a row of holes (12) in the web (7) on the vertical centre line and two parallel flanges (8). This is roller into a slotted ring (19), with the flanges towards the inside. Flat supporting faces (3) are formed on it by movement in the axial direction, while radial forces shut the slot (21) in it completely. USE/ADVANTAGE - Rapidity of prodn. of supporting rings for surface heaters with economy of material and simpler tooling. |
