The process is for electrically and mechanically connecting a component on a printed circuit board which has a conducting track (220). To form the pin connection, two slits are formed in the circuit in the required position at right angles. A blob of solder (260) is then added above the slit area. Following this, the pin (250) is pushed through the solder area, with the flexible circuit board on top of a fixed plate (290) having an opening (292). The flexible circuit board is fixed downwards in the pin region. Finally, the solder is heated and soldered onto the pin connection. ADVANTAGE - Provides reliable connection between electronic components and printed circuit board, whilst reducing assembly and connector costs.
