PURPOSE: To obtain an antimicrobial agent containing gentamicin and optionally further tetracycline or oxytetracycline. CONSTITUTION: This composition comprises a bacteriostatically or fungicidally effective amount (preferably 0.125-25 wt.%) of gentamicin, optionally a bacteriostatically or fungicidally effective amount (preferably 0.125-43.75 wt.%) of tetracycline or oxytetracycline, an agriculturally permissible granular carrier, diluent or excipient (preferably fine particles comprising a silicate dispersible into an aqueous diluent) and is used for treating infection with a plant bacterium. The composition is effective for controlling proliferation of gram-negative bacteria. In the case of using gentamicin alone, the composition is diluted to 1-200μg/mL and in the case of using gentamicin with another antibiotic, the composition is diluted to final concentrations of 1-100μg/mL of gentamicin and 1-350μg/mL of tetracycline or oxytetracycline to be used.
