The invention relates to a doubly journalled crooked tensioning roller 1 comprising a stationary bent axle 2 with a plurality of single tube sections 3 or roller segments, placed at some distance from each other, two antifriction bearings 4b, 4c, essentially for each tube section. The antifriction bearings are arranged between the tube sections and the axle at the adjacent ends of each tube section, whereby the tube sections or roller segments have been united into a unity by means of flexible coupling elements 6 arranged in the tube sections, in the boundary surfaces 7 between consecutive tube sections. The antifriction bearings have been arranged in each end of the tube section such that the end of the antifriction bearing is lying directly against the end of the coupling element, and the distance D between the antifriction bearings 4a, 4b placed in the different tube sections 3a, 3b is equal to the axial length E of the coupling element between the different tube sections. <IMAGE>
