PURPOSE:To prevent a white stripe from being formed in a developer layer on a developer carrier and to secure the developer carrying ability of the developer carrier. CONSTITUTION:This developing device is provided with the developer carrier 7 carrying the magnetic one-component developer, and a developer layer forming member 101; and the developer carrier 7 is provided with a magnetic force generating means 6 having a developer applying pole N1 and a developer carrying pole S2, and a developer carrying rotating body 4 which can rotate on the outside of the means 6 in one direction and to which the developer layer forming member 101 press-contacts. When an angle formed by a 1st virtual line 11 linking a contact part 8 between the developer carrier 7 and the member 101 with the center of rotation O of the rotating body 4 with a 2nd virtual line 12 linking the pole N1 with the center of rotation O of the rotating body 4 is defined as psi1 and an angle formed by the 1st virtual line 11 with a 3rd virtual line 13 linking the pole S2 with the center of rotation O of the rotating body 4 is defined as psi2, the two angles psi1 and psi2 simultaneously satisfy following inequalities: 37 deg.<=psi1, 63 deg.<=psi2, and psi1+psi2<=132 deg.. |
