摘要 PURPOSE:To form a satisfactory restored image on the reception side by efficiently compressing a digital image signal with compressive encoding and subsampling. CONSTITUTION:Thinning-out for 1/2 is performed by a thinning-out circuit 2, and the output is supplied to an encoder 3 for compressive encoding. The output code of the encoder 3 is extracted at an output terminal 5 and supplied to a local decoder 4 and a class sorting circuit 8. The class sorting circuit 8 generates an index corresponding to the encoded values of six transmitting picture elements around a non-transmitting picture. While receiving decoded data to be used for a space time model and the real data of the non-transmitting picture element, at an arithmetic circuit 6 for the method of minimum square, a coefficient with the minimum square sum of error between data, which are calculated by linear primary coupling between the coefficient and the decoded data, and real data are decided for each class. A pair of these coefficients are decided for one frame, for example. This coefficient is extracted at an output terminal 7 and transmitted.
