A process for mfg. a composite product comprising a lightweight core (5) and a metal skin (6) involves: (i) shaping a core (5) from a rigid foam; (ii) placing the core (5) in a press tool (1,2) with a flexible opposing pressure plate (3); (iii) positioning a thin metal sheet (6) between the opposing plate (3) and the foam core (5); (iv) pressing the core (5) into the metal sheet (6) to form the letter (6) around the core (5); (v) demoulding the combined product (5,6). The claimed component has a core (5) of polyurethane or structural foam. |
