The device comprises a base plate (1) fastened to the ski and having mounted therein a supporting insert (2) which can move sideways and swing out in a plane parallel to the ski and beyond a given path of sideways movement. The device comprises a hairpin-shaped spring (3) the ends of whose arms (31) are each provided with a guiding element (9) which fits into a shaped recess (8) formed on the underside of the insert (2). The interaction between this recess and the guiding elements limits the insert's lateral clearance, controls its swinging motion and returns it automatically to the central position. The device can be used as a binding for skis.
