The method comprises the steps of drilling a specific reference data corresponding to each area after designating a plurality of individual areas; scanning document of the individual area, counting the characteristics of the scanned individual area, and storing the counted value; comparing the specific reference data with the stored value and increasing a bit accumulater corresponding to the comparison value by 1; and regarding a corresponding kind having a maximum value as a kind of the individual area under the above comparison.
