1,197,907. Measuring moisture content of gases, electrically. ENERGY CONVERSION Ltd. Sept. 12, 1968 [June 12, 1967], No.27023/67. Heading G1N. The moisture content of a gas is measured by passing the air through a capacitive sensor comprising a pair of concentric cylindrical electrodes 3, 4 connected to an r.f. oscillator for controlling the frequency thereof, the other frequency determining components of the oscillator being housed within the sensor. In Fig. 1, two identical sensors are provided: one may be filled with a dry gas sample and sealed; or they may be connected to the gas inlet and gas outlet respectively of the oxidizing electrode of a fuel cell and the beat frequency of the oscillators used as a control signal to maintain the water content of the cell constant. An electrical resistance heater may be wound on the outer wall of the sensor. The electrodes may be gold plated. |
