<p>PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic recording and reproducing device capable of discriminating whether it is analog signal recording or digital signal recording. CONSTITUTION: When a signal is inputted in an input terminal 51, it is discriminated by an analog signal/digital signal discrimination circuit 53. In the case the discriminated result shows an analog signal, a control signal generation circuit 54 records the same signal as that at the conventional analog signal recording time on the control track of a magnetic tape. As for a sound signal, the sound part of the inputted analog signal is recorded on the sound track of the magnetic tape. In the case the discriminated result shows a digital signal, the circuit 54 records a signal different from that at the conventional analog signal recording time on the control track of the magnetic tape, whereby discrimination information on the analog signal recording and the digital signal recording is superimposed and recorded on the control signal.</p> |
