The present invention discloses an apparatus for recording and/or reproducing a rcording means, e.g., an optical disk, a strip or the like, of the type comprising a body having an aperture on the frontal surface thereof, a frontal panel and a protection plate. The body includes a recording and/or reproduction unit for recording or reproducing the recording means. The recording means is inserted into the body or removed from said apparatus body through the aperture. The frontal panel is rotably provided on the frontal surface of said body. The frontal panel rotates between a first position to close the aperture and a second position to open the aperture. The protection plate extends to a position so as to cover part of the frontal panel when the frontal panel has been rotated from the first position to the second position.
