<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a trouble caused by stuck metal and to enable a safe operation by measuring a metal wt. stuck to a furnace cover after tapping each charge and reducing the stuck metal wt. in the following charge at the time of melting and refining the metal in an electric furnace. SOLUTION: When executing the melting and the refining of the metal by using the electric furnace, the furnace cover 2 is held upward by pulling up a hanging chain 3 with an elevating/lowering device 5 and swung with a furnace cover swinging device to expose the opening part of the furnace body 1. At this time, a tension sensor 8 is arranged to the hanging chain 3 to measure the gross wt. of the furnace cover, and when the measured value of the furnace cover 2 is increased due to the stuck metal, in the following charge, arc voltage is raised and the arc heat is positively supplied to the furnace cover 2 to promote the melting of the metal. By this method, the metal stuck to the furnace cover 2 is reduced so as to stably execute the safe operation.</p> |
