METHOD FOR THE CONNECTION OF MODULES ON NAVIGATIONAL VESSELS

The method is used in shipbuilding, especially in theconstruction of large vessels. It makes unnecessary the use oflarge dry docks or devices for launching in the water. By themethod, the ship modules are fabricated in separate premises fromwhere they are removed in order to be assembled to each otheruntil the final assembly of the vessel in water. Modules (10 & 12)are floating and are positioned in such a way so that their ends(14) 16) are connected as they are either in contact or placedclose to each other. A flexible belt (18) can be tightly stuck onthe external side of the connection to stop and entry of water. Inanother case floating structure can be positioned in such a wayunder the modules (10 & 12) that a round cross-piece support canbe positioned in order to make the connection ait-tight. The wateris removed from the interior of the modules after which they arewelded together. The modules can be positioned close to each otherabove the water line using a barge and dry dock in order to removethe need for removing of the water.
