PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the directional characteristics in the lengthwise direction of a sealing body, which requries neither a novel sealing body shape nor a light-emitting element shape within a light-emitting diode. SOLUTION: Within a light-emitting dipode composed of almost rectangular light-emitting element 1 arranged on an element-mounting part 2 with a light- emitting surface 1a formed thereon 1, as well as a light-transmitting resin which seals the light-emitting element 1 which turns the light-emitting surface 1a as outside while having a sealing body 6 taking elliptical shape as seen from the light-emitting surface 1a, the light-emitting element 1 is arranged toward the sealing body 6, so that the longitudinal direction of the light-emitting surface 1a is made almost in parallel with the lengthwise direction of the sealing body 6. |
