<p>There is disclosed an ozone generator (10) having enhanced ozone generating capabilities. A cryogenic stream of oxygen (12) is irradiated with a high voltage electron beam (20) that converts a portion of the oxygen into ozone. When the oxygen stream is liquid, conversion rates of up to 33 % are achieved. Separation (42) of ozone from oxygen is achieved by exploiting physical properties. In one embodiment, a gaseous mixture is at a temperature between 90K and 161K. A condenser coil condenses the ozone to a liquid. The ozone may be directed to a reaction chamber containing a surface increasing medium, such as porous inert beads, to remediate air borne biological and organic contaminants.</p> |
